Was Prophet's Mother A Muslim?

In The Name Of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatuallahi wa barakatuhu

Prophet’s Mother Was A non-Muslim

IMPORTANT:MANY PEOPLE BEFORE THE ADVENT OF PROPHETHOOD Of Muhammad salla lahu alaihi wa salaam WERE NON-MUSLIMS,AND FEW WERE ON DEEN HANIF[ ISLAMIC MONOTHEISM]. Those who were non-muslims were fully aware that Allah is the God/Ilah but the made others as gods and worshipped Allah and also the false gods.
6:148. Those who took partners (in worship) with Allâh will say: "If Allâh had willed, we would not have taken partners (in worship) with Him, nor would our fathers, and we would not have forbidden anything (against His Will)." Likewise belied those who were before them, (they argued falsely with Allâh's Messengers), till they tasted of Our Wrath. Say: "Have you any knowledge (proof) that you can produce before us? Verily, you follow nothing but guess and you do nothing but lie."

Some people have misconception that prophet's [peace be upon him ]mother was on deen hanif,its false as Allah did not permitted prophet salla lahu alaihi wa salaam to seek forgiveness for her. following :The matter is dealt with other examples.

It is reported in sound Hadith that the Prophet's (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) parents are in Hell. Muslim reported from Anas Ibn Malik (Radiya Allahu Anhu) that a man came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and said: "O, Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) of Allah, where is my father? The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "In Hell". When the man turned back the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) called him and said: "Both my father and yours are in Hell" [Reported by Imam Muslim ].
Abu Hurairah (Radiya Allahu Anhu) said: "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) visited the grave of his mother and wept and all those who were around him wept as well. Then he said: 'I sought the permission of my Lord to visit my mother's grave and He permitted me to do so. And I sought His permission to ask forgiveness for her and He did not permit me. (Now), visit the graves, they remind of death" .So, it is clear from the last Hadith that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) was ordered not to seek forgiveness for his parents. It is also clear from the Qur'an that prohibiting asking for the forgiveness of the parents is because of their Shirk (disbelief). Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allâh's Forgiveness for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief).}[9: 113]. So, if it is certain that they were polytheists then that mean they worshipped other than Allah.

Here is the hadith with references:The Book of Prayers (Kitab Al-Salat) Muslim :: Book 4 : Hadith 2130
Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) visited the grave of his mother and he wept, and moved others around him to tears, and said: I sought permission from my Lord to beg forgiveness for her but it was not granted to me, and I sought permission to visit her grave and it was granted to motel So visit the graves, for that makes you mindful of death.

*Note:1 She was a non-muslim so Allah subhanawatala did not permitted Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him to pray for her forgiveness.Later ,to vist graves of non-muslims was completely forbidden.9:84 Nor do thou ever pray for any of them that dies nor stand at his grave: for they rejected Allah and His apostle and died in a state of perverse rebellion.

*Note:2 Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was commanded to pray for the forgiveness of only Muslims.It itself is a proof that she was’nt a Muslim.

About Children Of Khadijah [r.a]-Wife of Prophet Muhamamd salla lahu alaihi wa salaam

Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 117 Narrated byAli ibn AbuTalib
Khadijah asked Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) about her children who had died in the days of ignorance. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: They are in Hell Fire, and when he saw the sign of disgust on her face, he said: If you were to see their station you would hate them. She said: Allah's Messenger, what about my child that was born of your loins? He said: It is in Paradise. Then Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Verily the believers and their children will be in Paradise and the polytheists and their children in the Hell Fire. Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) then recited this verse: `And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in faith We unite with them their offspring and I shall deprive them of naught in their work.'
Transmitted by Ahmad.

*Note:The children [A human offspring (son or daughter) of any age] which died after puberty without believing in monotheism are polytheists.

Allah say’s (We never punish until We send a messenger (whom they reject)( ( 17:15 ).And those who had the chance to become follower of Ibrahim alai salaam,the pure Monotheist ,but they did’nt followed it are polytheists.

The Children Who Die Before Puberty Go To Heaven Along With Their Muslim Parents
Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz) Bukhari :: Book 2 :: Volume 23 :: Hadith 341 Narrated Abu Sa'id:
The women requested the Prophet, "Please fix a day for us." So the Prophet preached to them and said, "A woman whose three children died would be screened from the Hell Fire by them," Hearing that, a woman asked, "If two died?" The Prophet replied, "Even two (would screen her from the (Hell) Fire. " And Abu Huraira added, "Those children should be below the age of puberty.

Knowledge
Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 3 :: Hadith 102 Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
as above (the sub narrators are different). Abu Huraira qualified the three children referred to in the above mentioned Hadith as not having reached the age of committing sins (i.e. age of puberty) .

Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz) Bukhari :: Book 2 :: Volume 23 :: Hadith 340 Narrated Anas:
The Prophet said, "A Muslim whose three children die before the age of puberty will be granted Paradise by Allah due to his mercy for them."

As for children of non-Muslims, they are similar to the children of Muslims with respect to entering Paradise. Imam An-Nawawi says: "This is the sound view held by eminent scholars, and it is supported by Allah's Words, "We will not punish anyone until We have sent a Messenger." (Al-Isra': 15) Now if an adult is not punished for the reason that the truth did not reach him, it is far more reasonable to assume that a child will not be punished."

Imam al-Shafi`i -- may Allah be well-pleased with him -- whereby they are entirely dependent on Allah's will for them due to the hadith: "... When Allah created them he knew best what they would have done [if they had lived]" (Bukhari, Muslim and others). Another strong view is that they are in Paradise because Allah said: "We do not punish until after we send a Messenger" and other evidence. And Allah knows best.

A report by Ahmad from Khansa, daughter of Mu'awiyah ibn Sarim, states that he related her aunt's following account: "I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! Who will be in Paradise?' The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 'Prophets will be in Paradise, martyrs will be in Paradise, and babies will be in Paradise'." Al-Hafiz said that this hadith has a sound chain of narrators.

Prophet Muhammad [salla lahu alaihi wa salaam] Belonged To The Best Generation
Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions Bukhari :: Book 4 :: Volume 56 :: Hadith 757 Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent (as an Apostle) in the best of all the generations of Adam's offspring since their Creation."
Ibn Abbas (r.a) said Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, "My parents never committed fornication. Allah kept moving me from the good loins to the pure wombs , purified and refined; whenever there were two ways to go , I was in the best of them."
Hadith About Said ibn Zayd The Hanif
Merits of the Helpers in Madinah (Ansaar) Bukhari :: Book 5 :: Volume 58 :: Hadith 169
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
The Prophet met Zaid bin 'Amr bin Nufail in the bottom of (the valley of) Baldah before any Divine Inspiration came to the Prophet. A meal was presented to the Prophet but he refused to eat from it. (Then it was presented to Zaid) who said, "I do not eat anything which you slaughter in the name of your stone idols. I eat none but those things on which Allah's Name has been mentioned at the time of slaughtering." Zaid bin 'Amr used to criticize the way Quraish used to slaughter their animals, and used to say, "Allah has created the sheep and He has sent the water for it from the sky, and He has grown the grass for it from the earth; yet you slaughter it in other than the Name of Allah. He used to say so, for he rejected that practice and considered it as something abominable.
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Zaid bin 'Amr bin Nufail went to Sham, inquiring about a true religion to follow. He met a Jewish religious scholar and asked him about their religion. He said, "I intend to embrace your religion, so tell me some thing about it." The Jew said, "You will not embrace our religion unless you receive your share of Allah's Anger." Zaid said, "'I do not run except from Allah's Anger, and I will never bear a bit of it if I have the power to avoid it. Can you tell me of some other religion?" He said, "I do not know any other religion except the Hanif." Zaid enquired, "What is Hanif?" He said, "Hanif is the religion of (the prophet) Abraham who was neither a Jew nor a Christian, and he used to worship None but Allah (Alone)" Then Zaid went out and met a Christian religious scholar and told him the same as before. The Christian said, "You will not embrace our religion unless you get a share of Allah's Curse." Zaid replied, "I do not run except from Allah's Curse, and I will never bear any of Allah's Curse and His Anger if I have the power to avoid them. Will you tell me of some other religion?" He replied, "I do not know any other religion except Hanif." Zaid enquired, "What is Hanif?" He replied, Hanif is the religion of (the prophet) Abraham who was neither a Jew nor a Christian and he used to worship None but Allah (Alone)" When Zaid heard their Statement about (the religion of) Abraham, he left that place, and when he came out, he raised both his hands and said, "O Allah! I make You my Witness that I am on the religion of Abraham."
Narrated Asma bint Abi Bakr: I saw Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail standing with his back against the Ka'ba and saying, "O people of Quraish! By Allah, none amongst you is on the religion of Abraham except me." He used to preserve the lives of little girls: If somebody wanted to kill his daughter he would say to him, "Do not kill her for I will feed her on your behalf." So he would take her, and when she grew up nicely, he would say to her father, "Now if you want her, I will give her to you, and if you wish, I will feed her on your behalf."
His Biography
http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/history/biographies/sahaabah/bio.SAID_IBN_ZAYD.html
Zayd the son of Amr stood away from the Quraysh crowd as they celebrated one of their festivals. Men were dressed in rich turbans of brocade and expensive Yemeni burdabs. Women and children were also exquisitely turned out in their fine clothes and glittering jewelry. Zayd watched as sacrificial animals, gaily caparisoned were led out to slaughter before the Quraysh idols. It was difficult for him to remain silent. Leaning against a wall of the Kabah, he shouted:
"O people of Quraysh! It is God Who has created the sheep. He it is Who has sent down rain from the skies of which they drink and He has caused fodder to grow from the earth with which they are fed. Then even so you slaughter them in names other than His. Indeed, I see that you are an ignorant folk."
Zayd's uncle al-Khattab, the father of Umar ibn al-Khattab, seethed with anger. He strode up to Zayd, slapped him on the race and shouted: "Damn you! We still hear from you such stupidity. We have borne it until our patience is exhausted."
Al-Khattab then incited a number of violent people to harass and persecute Zayd and make life extremely uncomfortable for him. These incidents which took place before Muhammad's call to Prophethood gave a foretaste of the bitter conflict that was to take place between the upholders of truth and the stubborn adherents of idolatrous practices. Zayd was one of the few men, known as hanifs, who saw these idolatrous practices for what they were. Not only did he refuse to take part in them himself but he refused to eat anything that was sacrificed to idols. He proclaimed that he worshipped the God of Ibrahim and, as the above incident showed, was not afraid to challenge his people in public.
On the other hand, his uncle al-Khattab was a staunch follower of the old pagan ways of the Quraysh and he was shocked by Zayd's public disregard for the gods and goddesses they worshipped. So he had him hounded and persecuted to the point where he was forced to leave the valley of Makkah and seek refuge in the surrounding mountains. He even appointed a band of young men whom he instructed not to allow Zayd to approach Makkah and enter the Sanctuary.
Zayd only managed to enter Makkah in secret. There unknown to the Quraysh he met with people like Waraqah ibn Nawfal, Abdullah ibn Jahsh, Uthman ibn al-Harith and Umaymah bint Abdul Muttalib, the paternal aunt of Muhammad ibn Abdullah. They discussed how deeply immersed the Arabs were in their misguided ways. To his friends, Zayd spoke thus: "Certainly, by God, you know that your people have no valid grounds for their beliefs and that they have distorted and transgressed from the religion of Ibrahim. Adopt a religion which you can follow and which can bring you salvation."
Zayd and his companions then went to Jewish rabbis and Christian scholars and people of other communities in an attempt to learn more and go back to the pure religion of Ibrahim.
Of the four persons mentioned, Waraqah ibn Nawfal became a Christian. Abdullah ibn Jahsh and Uthman ibn al-Harith did not arrive at any definite conclusion. Zayd ibn Amr however had quite a different story. Finding it impossible to stay in Makkah, he left the Hijaz and went as far as Mosul in the north of Iraq and from there southwest into Syria. Throughout his journeys, he always questioned monks and rabbis about the religion of Ibrahim. He found no satisfaction until he came upon a monk in Syria who told him that the religion he was seeking did not exist any longer but the time was now near when God would send forth, from his own people whom he had left, a Prophet who would revive the religion of Ibrahim. The monk advised him that should he see this Prophet he should have no hesitation in recognizing and following him.
Zayd retraced his steps and headed for Makkah intending to meet the expected Prophet. As he was passing through the territory of Lakhm on the southern border of Syria he was attacked by a group of nomad Arabs and killed before he could set eyes on the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. However, before he breathed his last, he raised his eyes to the heavens and said:
"O Lord, if You have prevented me from attaining this good, do not prevent my son from doing so."
When Waraqah heard of Zayd's death, he is said to have written an elegy in praise of him. The Prophet also commended him and said that on the day of Resurrection "he will be raised as having, in himself alone, the worth of a whole people".
